Perioperative Theatre Technology(PTT) is a program that develops individual competencies for one to provide services in an operation theatre set –up in a hospital. It equips trainees with the required knowledge on how to provide support to patients in recovery. We offer this program at Sacred Heart Campus

Perioperative Theatre Technology professionals learn skills to ensure patient safety and the smooth operation of the operating theatre, including:-

• Infection control:- Trained professionals prevent infection and uphold safety standards.
• Technical support:- They provide technical assistance to the theatre team.
• Instrument care:- They manage instruments and ensure they are sterilized.
• Administrative duties:- They handle administrative and managerial responsibilities.
• Clinical assistance:- They participate in surgeries and contribute to optimal patient care.
• Anesthetist assistance:- They may serve as anesthetist assistants.
• Operating theatre equipment:- They operative operating theatre machines and equipment.

1. Diploma in Perioperative Theatre Technology
   This course equips individuals with knowledge and skills on how to prepare the operating room for surgery, sterilize the equipment, Care of clients in operating theatre room as well as testing and maintain theatre equipment and execute administrative and managerial responsibilities in a hospital with an operation theatre. Requiremnets: KCSE C- and Above
   Duration: 2½ Years
   Intake: Jan and Sept
2. Certificate in Perioperative Theatre Technology
   This course equips individuals with knowledge and skills on how to prepare the operating room for surgery, sterilize the equipment. Care of clients in operating theatre room as well as testing and maintain theatre equipment. Requiremnets: KCSE D and Above
   Duration: 1 Year
