About Nursing Department

Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles.


Our national healthcare system requires innovative solutions in order to meet the demands of changing trends of morbidity in our current society. Nursing profession has a unique role to meet the increasing complex client needs brought by these changes. To prepare graduates to meet these challenges, our curriculum is grounded in science as well as the art of nursing and incorporates information technology to address education and practice needs for the 21st century.

Courses Offered

This is a Higher Diploma Nursing Course in which a nurse trains and specializes as a Nephrology nurse who is competent to provide specialized care to renal/kidney problems.
Requiremnets: BSC, KRCHN/KRN/MHP/KRNM/2yrs of Clinical Experience.
Duration: 18 months
Intake: March (Only)

This a Diploma nursing course in which one trains and qualifies as a Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse to provide care to patients in the hospital setting. The nurse also provides healthcare and awareness creation at community level after identifying the health needs of a community.
Requiremnets: C and Above with C and Above in English or Kiswahili and Biology. C- and above in either Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics.
Duration: Three (3) Years
Intake: March and September
This is a Diploma Nursing course in which one trains and qualifies as a Kenya Registered Nurse and Midwife not only to provision of care to general patients in the hospital but also be competent to provide reproductive health care to a pregnant woman, mother in labour, postpartum mother, and care of the newborn.
Requiremnets: C and Above with C and Above in English or Kiswahili and Biology. C- and above in either Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics.
Duration: Three (3) Years
