Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles.
Our national healthcare system requires innovative solutions in order to meet the demands of changing trends of morbidity in our current society. Nursing profession has a unique role to meet the increasing complex client needs brought by these changes. To prepare graduates to meet these challenges, our curriculum is grounded in science as well as the art of nursing and incorporates information technology to address education and practice needs for the 21st century.
