Nyeri, September 14, 2026 - Sister Leonella Consolata Medical College (SLCMC) takes pride in the continued leadership of our Board Chairman, His Grace Archbishop Anthony Muheria, whose engagement with the Nyeri County Government is opening new frontiers in clean energy and sustainable healthcare development within our region.

Archbishop Muheria paid a courtesy call to H.E. Governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga, during which he conveyed the Archdiocese of Nyeri's appreciation for the County Government's support towards the commissioning of the Seeds of Energy Solar Plant at Consolata Hospital Mathari, the very institution with which SLCMC is proudly affiliated. The plant, launched in April 2026, now meets an impressive 70 per cent of the hospital's power requirements through renewable energy, a milestone that directly benefits the clinical training environment our students learn and grow in.

The discussions also touched on the Green Hydrogen Innovation Centre (GHIC) at Nyeri Hill Farm in Mathari, whose groundbreaking ceremony was held on 1st September 2026 under the theme "Harnessing Renewable Energy to Produce Green Ammonia and Medical Oxygen." As a medical training institution rooted in the same Archdiocesan vision of care for creation, SLCMC recognises the significance of a project that could one day support local medical oxygen production, a resource central to the healthcare training we deliver.

These initiatives reflect the integrated approach championed by our Board Chairman: linking faith, sustainable development, and healthcare, an approach that continues to shape the values SLCMC instills in its students.
